Mancat Monday

Hello evfurryone,

Yeah! It's Monday. Oh I know its cold and kind of rainy and real icy , so why am I happy?
I'm happy cuz the weekend has Pellie and Sir Knight going out to all kinds of places and leaving me home alone - but now during the week Pellie spends more time home with me - and cuz I don't have to go anywhere in this icky weather.

What that Pellie? You want me to Tell everyone what? Oh come on - I am a self respecting mancat - I shouldn't have to talk about sissy things like that. Oh ok. But I demand extra treats. for doing this.

Pellie says I need to tell all you guys that Today is National Toot Fairy Day.
Do Fairies really fly in and take humans toots? I'm glad they've never tried to get my fangs -I'd have had to bite them good - even if they are as cute as this picture Pellie put up for your viewing pleasure. I like my toots right where they are and not in some fairies hand.

OK I told them now I want my treat. I need some energy and then I will go visiting all my friends

I'm up on my soapbox - Long rant possible.

Lack of manners in America is no longer whether you confuse the salad fork for the dinner fork - or the fact that you tuck your napkin under chin while all the other guest place it gently across their knees.

It is a reported fact that we are assaulted on a daily basis by selfish, inconsiderate behavior be it at home, on the road, in the office, the shopping mall or the grocery store.

There is the little old lady who walks up to the counter - were a long line of shoppers are waiting to check out - causing a rather pathetic scene that she needs to be assisted first - because she is old and all the younger shoppers can just wait. -
The driver who cuts you off and almost puts you in a ditch, because he obviously needs to get somewhere faster than you do.

We have all dealt with one or more of these rude people and they seem to be multiplying like rabbits.

A rude congressman yelling out and calling the president a liar as he discusses his health care bill. - A singer walking up on a stage - grabbing a mike and telling the current winner and the audience that someone else deserved the award more.

Come on people we need to climb out of our apathy and stop letting these rude people bully us into silence.
Maybe what they had to say was correct but did they have to be rude?

In my example of the little old lady above - all the other shoppers waiting in the line to get checked out - stare in disbelief - but none says a word for fear of appearing just as rude as the lady herself. She gets waited on first and walks out - knowing that she can use that technique again and again because -we the other shoppers validated her rude behavior by our silence.

Why am I standing here on my soap box you ask?

Because:

I believe that the anonymity that the computer provides us, has on occasion turned good people into bullies.
Good, Kind People who probably would never let a friend they know on a face to face personal basis - sit in restaurant waiting for them - especially if they knew they may never arrive. I’m sure they would try to make contact with that friend or acquaintance and let them know what is going on in her life and reschedule or tell her friend she will reschedule later when things settle down.

So why not extend the same common courtesy to that person who, may only be a faceless name - but is still a living breathing person with their own problems, insecurities, illnesses or whatnot. Contact them - tell them Life got in the way and that you both need to change course - reassess and reschedule. That faceless name is certainly not a mind reader, they won’t know of any problems unless you tell them what’s going on and would probably be more than happy to mutually either call off or reassess any plans that were in the works.

So why the soapbox? Your still scratching your head and wondering.

Well my Post Last Thursday - seems to have caused quite a stir.

I feel a need to preface this part on the conversation by saying I have two e-mails from this partner prior to the final send out date and never once did she indicate she had personal problems that would make it impossible for her to meet her obligations in the ATC swap. So why would I think it was anything more than her slighting me?

I thought very long and very hard about how to express my disappointment without hurting anyone’s feelings. I wrote and rewrote that post till - I felt that I had reach a good balance - sharing my feelings - without defaming anothers.

But I guess I failed to do that.

The partner whom I left nameless and blogless in the context of my post, felt a need to leave me a comment vilifying me for not understanding her life situation, or being aware of how many times she traded and never received anything and then proceeded to inform me that my feelings must be much too delicate to handle the normal rough and tumble happening of life if this upset me. The comment wasn’t really a problem - if she finally wanted to open true communication with me - that would have been fine with me. I was ready.

But what I was not ready for was that upon leaving my blog she then proceed to head out and visit any of my visitors - who left a comment supporting me in my plight - introduced herself and tried to place them on a guilt trip for what they might have said. They were innocent bystanders in this whole mess. Why make them feel guilty for anything? She then went to the head of the swap and advised her of the situation.

A Psychologist would call this passive aggressive behavior - but I’m not a psychologist and I say this is what I call rude internet bulling; and I refused to be bullied into silence.

For I truly hope she would never do the same thing to any of her face to face friends who felt that she slighted them for some reason or other.

Now this being said - I will never say another word about this whole sordid affair.

I’m off my soapbox now. So let me leave you with a few Word From Master Shakespeare
Pucks Final speech from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call:
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends. [
--William Shakespeare

A Necessary Evil.

Hello everyone,

This is just a short post - to let you know that I have initiated Comment Moderation on this blog till further notice.

Genghis: But Pellie that makes more work for me when my friends come to call - now I'm disgruntled, too.

Pellie: Sorry Genghis, but it can't be helped. I just want to keep everyone safe.(you, me, and all our friends)

Genghis: Well I hope this tempest thing blows over quickly so things can go back to normal soon.

Pellie: Me too, Genghis - but a person has to stand for something or they fall for every thing and I stand up for common courtesy

I refuse to sacrifice principle for the sake of peace.

ATC on Thoughtful Thursday

Good morning everyone,

A few sunny days lulled us into thinking spring was not too far off - but alas Old Man Winter is not quite ready to release us from his grip and we are expecting another storm. This one should only drop about 5 inches worth of the white fluffy stuff on us - but that is more than enough for my winter weary body to cope with.

As you know I have such a such a good time making these Little Artist Trading Cards. (ATC) and for the most part my partners have been super terrific.

When Wendy over at Blissful ATC Swap - made up the partners list for this month - I was almost tempted to tell her I would be unable to participate after all. I was paired with a partner with whom, I’ve played with before on another project - and she left me with bruised and damaged, feelings.

Sir Knight and I spent quite a bit of time in conversation - while I tried to figure out what to do. Well, to make a long story short - I decided to rise above my hurt feelings and giver her another chance.
Just because the mind says another chance is possible doesn’t mean that the heart is always on the same track, however. The first card I made up for her was just kind of thrown together helter skelter and I must admit was nowhere near being anything I could be proud of - so after looking at it a few days - I once again set to work.
This time heart and head were working more in unison and I have to admit I was very happy with the result.

So here is the ATC I sent out.

Here is the card I made to accompany it on it’s journey.

Now here is the hard part of the story for me. - My partner - well She didn’t have enough respect for me to make sure she sent her card out on time or even let me know she‘d be late in sending out till she received my card.

Hmmmmmm - If she didn’t play right the first time - what made me think she’d play any better the second time around. Ever the Optimist I just set myself up to be disappointed once again.

As I grow older - I have to wonder sometimes if I will ever grow any wiser.

Penny

Purrfurmance Review/Funny Friday

Hello evffurry one,

Gee whiz, I had to fight to get this post in on time. Pellie, I want you to know this is going to cost you.

On to the Review:
  • Quantity of Output: - Pellie since I only get tw0 days I'm allowed to post you only get Two paws.
  • Quality of Output: - Pellie this is the one thing you are pretty good at - you always put in the best pictures of me and sometimes make cute pictures featuring me for the holidays.
  • Therefore I give you Four paws
  • Client Pawticipation: Here again Pellie, only Two paws - I need more contact with my adoring fans - just remember that.
  • Pawticipation (Part 2): This is where you totally bomb out Pellie - I never get to go to Pawties around blog land - so that means Two swats
  • Client Satisfaction: I don't really know what everyone thinks of what they see and read - so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and give you Two and one half paws.
  • Overall Rating: Needs lots of improvement. So Shape Up.

Purrs,
Genghis

Hey - hey stop your post - It's my day to post my purrfurmance review - What are you doing posting?

Sorry Genghis - but it's funny Friday and I wanted to post one of my favorite childhood poems.

If you must - you must. But I will take first billing on this post.

Strictly Germ-proof

    The Antiseptic Baby and the Prophylactic Pup
    Were playing in the garden when the Bunny gamboled up;
    They looked upon the Creature with a loathing undisguised;—
    It wasn't Disinfected and it wasn't Sterilized.

    They said it was a Microbe and a Hotbed of Disease;
    They steamed it in a vapor of a thousand-odd degrees;
    They froze it in a freezer that was cold as Banished Hope
    And washed it in permanganate with carbolated soap.

    In sulphurated hydrogen they steeped its wiggly ears;
    They trimmed its frisky whiskers with a pair of hard-boiled shears;
    They donned their rubber mittens and they took it by the hand
    And elected it a member of the Fumigated Band.

    There's not a Micrococcus in the garden where they play;
    They bathe in pure iodoform a dozen times a day;
    And each imbibes his rations from a Hygienic Cup—
    The Bunny and the Baby and the Prophylactic Pup.
    Arthur Guiterman

    Hello everyone,
I wanted to share a poem with you that I remember my mother reading to me very often when I was just a little girl.

It was written in - 1906 and published in a Ladies Magazine (Women's Home Companion), as a social commentary of the times - because it was thought that people were getting two darn worried about germs.

I wonder what Mr Guiterman would think of the Obsessive Compulsive need to be germ free that exist in our current times?

Hope you enjoyed?

Penny

Well it does seem like I've been read the riot act so - I feel a need to apologize to Genghis for my shoddy work on his behalf and inform him I will try harder in the future to further his career.

Teacup Tuesday?

Good Morning Everyone,

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means don’t you - Yep It Teacup Tuesday With Martha & Terri.

Now before we get started I want to make it clear that I know the pictures I am sharing with you today are mugs rather than dainty teacups; and no I haven’t run out of teacups yet. - not yet anyway.

These mugs however are my craft room mugs - a little sturdier to take any bumps and bruises that may occur while I am busy creating. And since I spent a considerable amount of time in there yesterday - I figured that I probably should share them with you.

This first mug - is all about crafts and I’ve had it for many moons. I thought the lady on the mug looked kind of like me, Sir Knight disagreed - because the tip of her tongue doesn’t stick out when she’s concentrating real hard. Yea! I know not a very lady like habit - but on my behalf - I only do it when I am really deep in thought and glue. ( I really don’t know when I picked up such a habit - but I figure I’m too old to change now.)

"There's nothing more exciting than starting a new project."

"One craft project, like one cookie,
is never enough!'

The last one I’m showing, my Mother bought for me about 13 years ago. It is a rather inspirational mug.
And has many sayings that apply to me so well.

Such as . . .
The older I get The more I enjoy a cup of tea.
The older I get. The more I see good coming out of difficulty
The older I get. The closer I feel to old friends
The older I get. The gentler I am with myself

So there you have it.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek into the heart of my craft room.

Mancat Monday

Hello Evfurryone,

Well it's Monday and that means back to the old grind. Pellie & Sir Knight were gone a lot over the weekend - so I, myself, am glad that it is over.

Well the Super Bowl is over the cheese heads won - I mean the Packers won and the cheese heads are doing the happy dance. I only got to see a little of the first half of the game - and not many of the commercials - because Pellie and Sir Knight left about 6:45pm to go to the theater.

They finally got to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. They said it was pretty good - but I won't know till it comes out on DVD; such is life.

Today Pellie has been making a mess in the craft room - cuz she has been busy making all kinds of things. I can't wait till she cleans things up a bit -so I have a place to walk much less a comfy place to sleep.

So there I was spending a little time in the Library talking with Juliet Capulet. Trying to figure out which of Pellie's books I could use to exercise my paws on, - I mean read. Yea, that's it. I wanted to read one and Juliet was advising me to stay clear of Pellie's Victoria magazine collection; when the Paparazzi came in.

Well I got to go check out a few things - so I'll catch you all later.

Genghis
