Up & Out of Bed

While I’ve been sick and laid in bed -
With many pillows to prop my head.
I slept and read and watched TV
While my sweet Genghis was across my knee.

We hardly played at any thing;
Just dreamed of better times ahead -
And the things we’d do when out of bed.

I’d craft and sew and make many things
maybe I’d even give some of them wings.
I’d visit with all of my wonderful friends,
and to my poor neglected blog I would attend.

Sir Knight said that would be just fine
But first we had to give me time
To recuperate and mend

Yet it feels like this illness will never end.

(My sincerest apologies to Mr Robert Lewis Stevenson about this, my parody on his great poem - " The Land of Counterpane")

Hello everyone,

Just a short note to say my lungs are finally starting to clear up and I am able to spend a little more than a half an hour out of bed at any one time. So we are hopeful that we will be back to normal soon.

I would be amiss if I failed to thank Genghis for all his extra love, attention and snoopervising to make sure I was alright - whenever I left the confines of my bed.

I want to also thank Sir Knight for taking such good care of me and never once complaining about the added work load especially during the holidays. You are truly my Knight in Shining Armor and I am blessed having you as my husband.

Today we have started to finally take down are Christmas decorations and it is very sad. We always leave them up till the 6th of January - so we are only slightly behind schedule this year. But the truth be known - I would leave them up longer if I thought I could get away with it and my neighbors wouldn’t petition to have me committed.

As we remove all trace of Santa and Christmas - I put up my snowmen and decorate - for winter.

Snowmen with their happy smiling faces always seem to lift my spirit even on the gloomiest - snowiest days. I guess that’s because snowmen fall from the sky unassembled and in each snowfall there is the possibility of a couple happy snowmen. (Not from me - at least not this year.)

The mind is willing to stay up and visit some more - but the body is still weak - so I think I will head back to bed.

Hugs,
Penny

Keep feeling better, Pellie. Good thing you have Sir Knight and Nurse Genghis.

Glad to hear you are on the mend Pellie! These things can certainly knock one flat...don't try to do too much too soon. Cats are so attentive when we are sick...I think kitty love is the best medicine :-)

Yes, I'm always sad too when I take down the decorations. Everything looks so bright and lively with the lights and the twinkling, it's a bit dreary when they are gone.
