My 7th Teacup Tuesday

Good Morning Everyone,

Well here it is Tuesday and you know what that means. Yep! It's Teacup Tuesday. Once again I am participation in this wonderful event hosted by Martha and Terri.

Please forgive me for not signing off at the end of this post but for some reason I can't seem to be able to get print under the last picture.

This first cup I am showing you is actually is one of the cups - from my set of China. I purchased my China when I turned 16 and had my first paying job. I was working part time at SS Kressge making $2.00 an hour . Knowing I wanted pretty China I saved every penny I made - till I had enough to put this pretty Noritake set on Layaway - then I headed to Goldblats Department Store put my down payment in the sales girls hands and signed up for layaway and must have made payments for at least a year if not more before I could bring my treasure home. My family thought me a bit strange for investing in China before I was even engaged or had even been to college. But they dutifully stored it for me, out of harms way.

The pattern is Cheri and I purchased it in 1966.

This next set is a bargain purchase at a yard sale and more of a demitasse size and I fell in love with the roses on it. So I plopped down my 50 cents and walked away a happy camper
As you can see it was made in Japan.

This cup and saucer are also more of the demitasse size A small treasure from Lefteris, which I was told was a name used by Lefton China Co. for awhile. But I have been unable to find any real history about if that is true or not. If someone knows for sure - please let me know. I just loved the flowers and the lacey saucer.

It was so responsible of you to put that beauty on layaway at such a young age. It is very pretty and so are the other tea cups and saucers. Thank you so much for your thought and prayers for my classmate and her family....Christine

Sometimes in the antique world, dealers won't even buy a teacup from China or Japan but I for one happen to love them. The color and patterns are vibrant. Lately I've seen many pretty ones in our local Goodwill for $5 for cup and saucer...I'm so tempted. Because you like frills and beauty come and see my shadowbox finds on my post today (if you find a minute free).
I owe you a letter and it's coming to your mailbox soon.
Warm summer hugs...
Jacqueline

The lacy teacup looks so delicate and lovely. I completely understand saving up for china , every gal with sense knows a lady needs at least one good set of china! I too began collecting china and linens before I was engaged, or even graduated from high school. Stored it in my Hope Chest!

My china pattern is also Noritake.Thank-you for inviting me to your Teacup Tuesday and inspiring my little walk down memory lane!

I forgot to mention, I hope you get the answer to your question. There are so many "teacup & china wise" ladies out there looking at the teacups, surely someone must know!
