Bright bits for a cold day.

Hello everyone,
It Snowed again Friday - so we are again up to our ankles in the cold, wet, white stuff and I'm not happy about that.
Sooooooooooooo
In a real effort to pull myself up out of those funky winter blues - I decided I'd share some of the art I've been up to.

So brace yourself.

This is the ATC I made for the February swap over at Blissful ATC Swap. The theme was it's a Mad, Mad, Alice in Wonderland World. and when I first thought about it - I thought oh how cool that should be fun. I don't know if it was the winter doldrums or what - but as I tired to work on it - I just could not get into it. So the card you see above is my rather paltry attempt.
I found the picture above in an old book of mine as a kid - it was in black and white - scanned it into the computer - set to work cleaning it up a bit and then I printed it out full sized so I could have the fun of coloring it. Scanned it back into the computer and printed it out wallet size and added embellishments.

I thought it came out ok - but I must admit it is not some of my best work.

These are all the goodies I received from my partner Beth; over at Mossberry Cottage Blog.

The ATC she made. Isn't Mr. White Rabbit looking rather dapper.

Plus a real cool tag she made of Alice in wonderland. She is just so clever and talented.

Thank you so much Beth, I love everything.

I also participated in a private swap with a wonderful Lady I met on Flicker. Her sign in name is Card Happy her real name is Lori and she is a very experienced card maker.

We decided on a theme of famous women.

These are some of the goodies I received from my partner.

This is the beautiful card she made for me - Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller. Thank you so much Lori it is stunning.

Lori asked if I could make her card about Frida Kahlo - the famous Female artist from Mexico.

The first thing I had to do was hit the books and Internet to do some research on Frida, her life and her art.

This ATC is the culmination of my research. I made a paper clay plaque and glued a picture of one of Frida's self portraits on it. The background for my card was a small piece of fabric I picked up in a box of stuff from an auction. Then I quilled the filligere border around my plaque. Finished it off with a quote by Frida.

I thought it turned out quite well. Hope Lori, Liked it.

In an effort not to acquire that hoarder look - we are still working on organizing our basement and sorting things for donation and/or Garage Sale later in the year. Almost need to rent a storage unit for all the stuff we will be getting rid of. - How do we ever accumulate so much stuff?

Hope you are all having a great day.

Hugs,
Penny

Wow, works of art indeed...I love the Alice in Wonderland pieces. Nice work! I think that's exactly what you should be doing on a cold snowy day!

My best attempt would never be 1/4 as pretty as yours! I never learned to color between the lines, so to speak.
Decluttering is amazing, isn't it? When we moved to Las Vegas we got rid of VAST amounts of stuff.
