Mancat Monday

Hello evfurryone,

As you can see we are still celebrating the Carnival Season here. I wanted to be the King of Misrule - but Pellie refused to make me a cool Jesters hat. She said I'd just pull it off and not wear it - yea I know she's right - but that doesn't stop me from wanting one.

Oh boy - did it take a lot of self control not to attack Pellie's head piece before they went to the ball. I wanted that big purple Feather so bad. But I was a good boy and left it alone.

All I had to do - to get my beads was flash my tummy.

I got beads in the the three main colors of Mardi Gras:

Green represents Faith
Purple represents Justice
Gold represents Power

Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday - the day you eat up all the treats in the house that you won't be able to eat for the next 40 days - so you get fat and then get really depressed you can't have any more till Easter. Your kidding right? 40 days without treats of any kind?

Pellie, I don't want to go with out treats that long. Please don't make me go that long - I need treats. If you don't give me treats I'll have to bitey on you! (not that I'll want to, you understand) - but I have to bite on things and without treats to bite on - I don't know if I can control myself.

No Genghis you don't have to do with out treats that long - well just give you a few pieces less than you usually get. How's that? But remember you don't get to eat up everything on Tuesday this way.

Oh man - ok! As long as I still get a few treats every other day or so. I'll behave. / err I mean
I 'll live.

Well now I better do some visiting of my friends before nap time gets here.

Purrs,
Genghis

New purse for the Fur Ball

Hello everyone,

We are busy as little bee’s getting all of our things ready for the Annual Fur Ball / Masquerade Party for the Local Humane Society.

Yes it is Carnival Season once again - the last time to party before the rigorous fasts of the Lenten Season begins. This coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and we Christians start preparing for the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Christ on Easter morning. Today’s culture is no where near as rigorous about fasting and doing penance for our sins as in days of old so the idea behind Carnival and Mardi Gras are lost in antiquity.

No. Really! It isn’t a time for getting drunk , and showing your boobs for brightly colored beads.

But then I digress - my post today is about Sir Knight’s and my preparations to get ready for our Masquerade Ball. Benefits of the party go to our local Animal Shelter -so we are thrilled to be able to attend this year.

Yesterday while I was laying things out to make sure we were ready -I was aghast -to find I didn’t have a suitable purse for the occasion. There was nothing I could do but make one - so I scavenged through the closets and found one of my moms old purses (probably about 20 years old) but only used once.

So here is what I began with. Pretty and maybe timeless - but so not me.

I had some crazy glasses Sir Knight and I picked up on one of our trips to the dollar store. - made some yo-yo flowers from Mardi Gras design fabric - cut a few little items from pictures I found on the web - and used some beads and coins I had left over from a party many years ago.

Here is what it looks like now - after I embellished it. And I will be linking this post up with Anna at Frosted Petunias Purse Challenge for March.

I think it’s the cat’s meow and will be the hit of the Ball this evening.

Got to run - we still have a few more things to get done before the party.

Hugs,
Penny

March First

Hello Everyone,

Well it is the First of March- and here in my corner of the Midwest we are expecting a rather balmy 40 degrees with no immediate storms of any kind in our weather forecast. I guess this qualifies as March coming in like a Lamb and we get to look forward to more unpleasant weather near the end of the month to fulfill the old saying - out like a Lion.

It is also time to choose a new self care card for March. The card that choose me this month was Tenderness. The motivating message on the back - says Speak gently to yourself. Cherish the child within.
This one may give me some problems - even as a child I had difficulties listening to my inner child.

Yep I'll definately have my work cut out for me with this one.

Patti over at the Treasure Barn has been hostessing an ATC swap - (and I must admit I think I’ve grown addicted to making these) - so you guessed it I joined hers as well.

The Theme for February was Butterflies to help us focus our attentions on the pretty things to come and not all the rotten weather we have been having.

Here is the card I received from my partner Lori. The Title is Rendezvous -
Isn’t it lovely. I just love it. Thank you so very much, Lori.

Lori's ATC and the card I received with it.

Here is the card I made for Lori, which I titled the Dance of the Butterflies.

I painted my background with acyclic paints - then found a floral spray that I felt complemented my background - cut it out and mod podged in place - Then I found the butterflies I felt would go with everything and cut them out and added them to the picture. I added just a touch of glitter to the one rose to add some glam and sparkle.

Here is the card I made to accompany my ATC on its trip .

Hmm I may be developing a latent addiction to glitter as well.. - Is that dangerous?

I don’t know for sure.

I ask you guys to help keep track of me - and when I start glittering up Genghis - I’ll know I’ve lost any semblance of sanity and need to head for treatment.

I wonder where they put us glitter addicts? Is it a pretty place with glittered wall or some dark and dreary forlorn place. UGH!

Hugs,
Penny
