Saturday Celebrations

Hello  dear friends,

How are you this fine Saturday morning?

We were up at the crack of dawn to begin our celebration of three important occasions that call today "their day".

The first is National Hug Your Cat Day.  Of course Genghis is always Happy to receive lots of hugs.
He feels that everyday should be Hug Your Cat Day - maybe he's right.

Today is also Fibromyalgia Awareness Day and even if you can't see it very well - I am wearing purple for the cause in the very first picture.    Please join us.

Last but certainly not least - Today is International Nurses Day.  Here in the US we start Nurses Week off with our Nurses Day on May 6th - but the rest of the world caps off the week long Celebration on Florence Nightingale's Birthday with Nurses day.
So to all my Nurse friends, family members, co-worker and all you fellow nurses I have never met- I wish you a wonderful Nurses Day.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Hugs,
Penny

Roses in Bloom

"Won’t you come into my garden?  I would like my roses to see you."  -  Richard B. Sheridan

Good morning everyone,

The weather man assured us that today would be bright and sunny - yet as I sit here at my computer I hear the roll of thunder. Maybe it will roll on by.

"A profusion of pink roses bending ragged in the rain speaks to me of all gentleness and its enduring".
 - William Cullen Bryant

I showed you this little garden spot a few days ago - but since that picture was taken - the roses have started to bloom and I wanted to share them with you.  Beautiful aren't they?

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living.  We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon  - instead of enjoying the roses blooming right outside our window today.” - Dale Carnegie

We seem to be keeping ourselves very busy lately.   Sir Knight continues to work on our New Vegetable garden, every evening when he comes home from work.  Me;  I work on keeping all the rest of the landscaping free of weeds.  The front yard is easy - but the back  - oh the back - it is surely cursed.  I can hardly keep up with the Binder Weed much less get ahead of it.

Our Peonies have buds and will flower soon - hopefully I will be able to get a picture or two before the rain knocks all the petals of.  What usually happens is;  they bloom on the worse raining day we have and the petals fall off before we can even enjoy them.  And the rain is due tomorrow.again. Sigh!!!!

I hope you have a great day.

Hugs,
Penny

Looking Back

Hello everyone.

It was 67 years ago today ( Tuesday May 8, 1945)  that VE-Day (Victory -in-Europe Day) was announced to mark the end of World War II in Europe.

Families gathered together around their radio's to listen to Prime Minister Winston Churchill and /or President Harry S Truman making their speech announcing the fall of Germany and The Third Reich.  Relieved nations of  people sang danced and marched around towns celebrating.

Sadly, the war was not over for everyone, The war with Japan did not end till August 15th, so many men were still risking their lives abroad.

VE-Day and VJ-Day  may have gotten pushed from our memories as we now just celebrate Veterans Day but least we forget  -   lets pause a moment  and reflect.

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left"
-Burtrand Russell

“When greed sups with the devil
And principles are shed
When power is corrupted
And truth stands on its head
When fear pervades the confused mind
And fools are easy led
When reason is a prisoner
The bell tolls for the dead.”
Tom Walker

“Mankind must put an end to war,
or war will put an end to mankind."
-John F. Kennedy

Mancat Monday

Hello evfurryone,

I hope you had as great a weekend as I did.

Pellie and Sir Knight spent most of the weekend at home with me -that made me a very happy camper.

Sir Knight finally started working on the new garden makeover and while it's not any where near ready to put the plants in yet, I heard him tell Pellie it will be finished by Mothers Day.  That's his favorite time to plant.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I can almost smell the catnip now.

I hope everyone has a super great week.

Purrs,
Genghis

Tantalizing Thursday

Good morning everyone,

I hope this little post finds you all feeling refreshed and less grumpy.  But wait the fun doesn't stop with yesterdays post.  Oh no!  Today we are celebrating National Two Different Colored Shoes Day

Grab those two different colored shoes and join us in the celebration.  It's  guaranteed to make you feel like a child again, and who doesn't need that once in awhile?

Today is also designated as Garden Meditation Day

While my sweet little girl statue like to meditate among the roses

And my fairy kitty dreams happily among the shrubs by the porch,

I prefer to do my meditation on my cozy porch - where I can stay dry from today's rainy weather.

Where do you like to do your garden mediation?

At the Last auction I went to I happened to get these two super cute perfume bottles for a grand total of $1.50.  The one with the heart stopper is a newer bottle, as it has a plastic piece on the stopper to make it fit tighter in the bottle.  The other one is a more vintage piece and has its share of war wounds to prove it.  But I fell in love with it and just had to have it.   Hopefully Sir Knight will be able to file the broken top tip of the stopper so it looks better and  is safer to handle.

Here is a shot of my dresser and the rest of my perfume bottle collection.

A close up of just the perfume bottle collection.  All of them are empty of course except the real tiny bottle of Victoria perfume, Boucheron and L'Air du Temps.  The Boucheron and L'Air du Temps are my signature fragrances for a night out of dining and dancing.   I also have a couple Bath &Body Shop fragrances the one is Chocolate Amber (a now discontinued fragrance - so I use it very sparingly) and the other is their Sleep inducing fragrance for those nights that  insomnia tries to get the better of me.

Oh me how time flies when your having fun.  I really must do some house work today.  But it will have to wait - as I'm off to visit with all of you.

Hugs,
Penny

Great American Grump Out

Hello evfurryone,
I know it's suppose to be wordless Wednesday - But ----- I just had to say a word or two about the Grump Out.

The 11th annual
    GREAT AMERICAN GRUMP OUT
                 Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

The Grump Out asks all you sour pusses to suck it up and refrain from getting your grump on -- at least for 24 hours.

That includes no grumping, no frowning, no grousing, complaining, punching, slapping, hitting or killing. FOR ONE WHOLE DAY

Grump Out goals:
  1. To help people better understand the connection between negative attitudes, stress and health.
  2. To see America give themselves permission to be friendly, playful, supportive and loving for just one day. (You guys & girls in other countries can do it too you know.)
  3. To lighten up our planet and reduce unhealthy stress through humor.
  4. To have FUN!

Spread the word to all your humans! Facebook it, Twitter it, MySpace it, Blog it, Email it, and Share it with your friends...especially your grumpy friends.

Less Grumpy = less Stress & better Health

I'm trying to be less grumpy today, myself.

Purrs,
Genghis

Happy May Day

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope this short post  finds you all happy and healthy.

I wanted to wish you all a very Happy May Day.

The Merry Month of May
by Thomas Dekker
(1570-1632)

O THE month of May, the merry month of May,

So frolic, so gay, and so green, so green, so green!

O, and then did I unto my true love say,

Sweet Peg, thou shalt be my Summer's Queen.

Hugs,
Penny

P.S.  Our weather isn't typical  May weather - but what the heck,  let's  party round the May Pole.
